Moving madness (wardrobe)

Moving is never easy, nor fun. I’ve had nearly 20 big moves in my life, including some big international moves. Whether you have movers, packers or you do it all yourself, you’ll end up with some chaos. And nothing is more chaotic then when you can’t find your undies and you’ve been wearing the same thing for thing for three days running.
As we know each area takes time to unpack. The kitchen is usually the worst but that’s another blog post…
This week I worked with this wonderful client in Double Bay who had just moved into her new abode with her amazing, enviable and extensive wardrobe. Extensive wardrobes though, need the right space, and my client is working on that. In the meantime, and as a temporary measure though, it was just about clearing the clutter (and I mean finding those undies) and getting dressed had to be accessible and easy.

Bear in mind, what you see in these pictures is a mere third of her closet. I also organised her existing wardrobe and set of drawers. The main goal: being able to walk in the room!

I my DO.over I:
- Used the space and racks this client already had
- Unpacked boxes, organised her drawers with er… her drawers, rearranged all hanging clothes
- Rearranged clothes according to items – such as suit jackets with suit jackets, pants, dresses, etc.
- Rearranged her husband’s closet (and found his shoes in the rubble)
- Colour-coded everything (my favourite in a closet), including the husband’s ties 😄
- Put suitcases, heavy winter coats in harder to reach places, at the top of the closet
She gave me 5 stars and says:
“Excellent job! Would highly recommend Valerie”
I really enjoyed doing this job, and I’ll be going back to arrange her brand new custom joinery when it arrives. More importantly, for now she can walk in her room and happily get dressed, hopefully, unless she can’t decide what to wear…
