Shed no more tears

Left forgotten in many a backyard stands the lonely shed. It was once a laundry, once a garage, once a scary place to store spiders, their webs, and your worst fears. It’s neither practical, nor organised – just cluttered. And more importantly, rarely properly maximised.
This shed is that no more.
Situated at the back of a strata block of units in Cremorne, this shed was once a laundry turned mess. The residents don’t have a garage, car space nor extra storage, so this shed needed to be so much more.

It had an old washing machine rusting in a corner, a concrete basin taking up space and many deliberately left-behind belongings of residents who had moved on a long time ago. The shed door didn’t shut, nor did it lock. It definitely wasn’t a place you’d like to keep things safe and secure.

But I knew what it could be.
I was able to DO. by:
- liaising with the Strata manager
- consulting with the residents on what they wanted
- executing clean outs (putting the many forgotten items out for council pickup)
- coordinating with the handyman (a lot)
- organising rubbish removal
- listing the old washing machine and concrete basin on Gumtree (and yes people came and took them away)
And we turned this shed into a cagey storage delight (not just for spiders)!
It now boasts:

- Seven equitable storage lockers, 1.5m x 2.5 m, that individually lock – large enough to fit bikes and even surfboards
- A front door that shuts and locks
- A clean roof (it’s dry)
- Painted windows and doors
- Safe and secure storage!
Delightfully, this shed is now a home for the things the residents actually want to keep, access and enjoy!
